Char Siew So Good (Toast & Roast @ SS2)

Have you ever tried char siew (roasted pork) so good that it melts in your mouth?

Well I've tasted some really yummy siew yok (BBQ pork) before..but not char siew.

However this restaurant is different. While it serves siew yok, but the killer must try is the char siew!

This restaurant is located in the quiet side of SS2.. somewhere behind the Tropicana mall. I wouldn't have known here if not for my friend bringing me here.

But the surprise is - there's no long queues or having to wait for tables.. something rather expected for a food so good!

"You sure the char siew here is that good?"

Well, we let the food do the talking. And true enough, the char siew literally melt in the mouth! Wow!

That is one of the best char siews I've tasted so far!!

Btw, apart from the char siew, the restaurant also serves taugeh (bean sprouts), Hakka noodles, siew yok and even curry (yet to try that).

Owh and it also serves my favorite drink - the lemongrass (with lime). Not the best of lemongrass but good enough.

So well, for a good breakfast, lunch or brunch (Im usually here for that.. haha!), you know where to head to!! :)

No 20, Jalan SS2/ 72

Finally, I Really Filmed Summer Love!

Just a quick post of what I've been up to the last 4 days.. Well, I've just realized a dream, and oh boy am I excited with it!!

4 years ago, I've came up with this web series idea of Summer Love. Well many things happen, and the series didnt see light.

Friends esp close friends will know that I've been talking bout Summer Love ever since. While deep down, I still believe in producing it, but I'm sure some friends maybe skeptical. After all, it's 4 years later only that the dream is realised!!

But well, I'm not one to give up (that) easily and I'm happy to have sticked to the dreams. It has been a long road, at times lost, not even sure if the project can take off, and at times self doubt creeps in.

But I must say that dream and that goal is very much alive. And that is what saw it pull through.

Of course, nothing can be done without great partners. And I am grateful to have found a great team and dedicated partners to see this project through (honestly, I am touched!).

More of that to come - but well first, some pics I've taken with some of the casts of the series during the shoot plus a photo with partner in crime (who is also co director and producer) Arico!

These btw are the very few shots I took in that busy-few hours of sleep shooting days!! :)

Next, for us to get the edit done!! Stay tuned!! :)

With co producer & director, Arico!
With Lez Ann who plays the sweet girl next door, Tiffany, that everyone loves!

With Sheena who plays the seductive Bianca. Behind, is Make Up Partner, Konji from Konji International.

With Mei Sze who plays the hyper best friend of Tiffany.

Did We Scare Lady Gaga Away?

Rah, rah, rah ah ah
Roma, roma ma
Malaysia? Oh no la!

Well that's what's happening here. Lady Gaga is having her concerts all over South East Asia and capital city of Malaysia.. the beloved Kuala Lumpur is not her stop.

She has her dates set to Bangkok, Singapore, Manila and even Jakarta.. but not KL.

Okay, we probably may not be much a party goer as compared to say the Thais (if what we see at Silom gets generalized), or the free spirited Filipinos. But definitely we are no less when it comes to partying like the Singaporeans. And Indonesians, no?

So why is Gaga shy-ing from KL? I tweeted bout this yesterday.. and some replies I got back are below..

Of course these are teasers by fellow twitter mates.

Well, the conversation with her agent might have just gone..
Gaga: Why are we not doing Kuala Lumpur too?
Agent: No, you don't need to try. They will probably ban you - if not now, probably at the last minute. Let's stick to other more accepting cities..

Or perhaps this..
Gaga: And how bout Kuala Lumpur?
Agent: Are you kidding me?

Yeah, there are so many bans, protests and last minute cancelations here over the past years. It's weird because some acts do get to perform while some aren't allowed to our shores.. Which to me sends out a very mix signal of how fast forward is Kay El. After all, Adam Lambert was here. So was sexy Girls Generation. Even Mariah Carey and the late MJ..

Talking bout Michael Jackson..I still remember the time he came here. Former PM mentioned something along the lines that Malaysia must mean something to such stars wanting to perform here.

Well that obviously ring true. It means a lot too if they don't perform here, but instead to all the other neighboring cities.

Who loses in the end? Look at it this way. When a concert is held, lots of money flow in - ticket sales, merchandise, advertising, promotions and lodging. Yes, KL looses that much revenue, apart from probably 'losing face' to our neighbors.

But here's another point to ponder.. a lil serious one too. The question is - who else is not coming and is turned off with Malaysia? Potential investors perhaps? Gaga can't possibly be the only one.

So how much more are we losing out - both as our capital city and Malaysia? All the hardwork we do to woo investors and tourists - will never be good enough if this kind of 'issue' persists. Yeah, time some people do some serious thinking.

It's time Malaysia gets a nudge - which is better now than to trail behind later. Agree?

Surisit The Thai Kopitiam

Yesterday, was off.. and usually on such days, it's nice to try out some different restaurants for a change.

Over the past weeks, Ive googled for some good food around KL.. and this kopitiam pops up.

Never really had a chance to visit it till yesterday. The push factor yesterday is probably caused by the fact that all things Thai still lingers on my mind after the recent Bangkok trip!

So brunch to the kopitiam it was!

The deco of the restaurant was pretty welcoming.. from the front door to the inside. There's enough deco to give that Thai feel - which I like!

Soon we ordered. Now it's interesting to point that the food is not the usual Thai fare that some more commercial restaurants serve. Instead, the food here is closer to what one will get in eating in a restaurant in Thailand.

So we ordered the Thai prawn curry, the clear water tom yum kung, Thai style fried pork, and banana flower salad.

I must say while all the food was yummy, but the latter 2 dishes were the bomb! I've always love the fried pork having tasted some of the best in Thailand.. and now I can safely say I found it here!

As for the banana flower salad, that was rather unique tho I can't recall if I've had this before.

Then came the desserts. And it started off with the red ruby, which is always yummy. But what I like more was one of my all time favourite desserts - the mango sticky rice!

And they did it quite well. The milk sauce was just the right thickness - like those found in Thailand (really, there's a difference!). The only let down for this is probably the sweet but less sweet mango which I guess can't be helped.

On the whole, this was a good experience.. for food lovers and those who just can't get enough of all things Thai!! :)
